SAFE Alert issued for 72-year-old woman possibly last seen in Avondale

Authorities issued a SAFE Alert on Saturday for a missing 72-year-old woman.

Yolanda Garcia was last seen at about 8:15 a.m. on Saturday near the area of Durango Street and 99th Avenue on foot. She was wearing a blue shirt with a white unknown graphic, black capri-style pants and flip flops.

There was a possible sighting of Garcia at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the area of Avondale Boulevard and Buckeye Road in Avondale.

Garcia is described as Hispanic, 5 feet, 2 inches tall and 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

She has a medical condition that can cause her to become confused and easily lost.

Anybody with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department Missing Persons Unit at 602-534-2121 or email the detective in charge of the case at daniel.nonnemacher@phoenix.gov.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
