Subject of Phoenix SAFE Alert returns home on her own

A woman whose family reported her missing, prompting a SAFE Alert, returned home safely Wednesday, authorities said.

When the alert for 78-year-old Kathleen Carr was issued early Wednesday, she had last been seen about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday near 16th Street and Dobbins Road, just north of South Mountain Park and Preserve.

She has a medical condition that can cause her to become lost or easily confused, and her family was concerned about her welfare.

The alert was canceled after she came home.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
