SAFE Alert canceled for missing 65-year-old man last seen in Mesa

Authorities located a Native American senior who went missing in Mesa and was made the subject of a SAFE Alert on Tuesday morning.

Several hours after the alert was issued for 65-year-old Manual Shaw, the Mesa Police Department said he was found and is safe.

The initial alert said Shaw had last seen at 9:30 p.m. Monday while walking in the area of Main Street and Extension Road.

His family had been concerned about him because of his medical condition as well as memory issues, police said.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
