SAFE Alert issued for missing 66-year-old man last seen in Mesa

Authorities issued a SAFE Alert Wednesday evening for a missing 66-year-old man who was last seen in Mesa on Tuesday.

Robert Cathey was last seen in the area of Broadway and Power roads around 8 p.m. He is described as a white male who 5-foot-2 and 160 pounds.

Cathey is also said to have gray hair and a full gray beard. However, his eye color is not known. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and brown pants.

Authorities said that Cathey is non-verbal and has a medical condition that might cause confusion.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact 911 immediately.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
