SAFE Alert canceled after missing Sun Lakes woman found safe

PHOENIX — Authorities have canceled a SAFE Alert for an 88-year-old woman who didn’t make it home after leaving an East Valley hospital on Monday night.

Cherie Boulton left Banner Ocotillo Medical Center in Chandler around 6:30 p.m. but never arrived at her residence in Sun Lakes.

A SAFE Alert was issued around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, but was canceled about 12 hours later.

The Chandler Police Department said Boulton was found safe at her home on Tuesday morning.

She was driving a white 2022 Hyundai Elantra with Arizona plate 8FA0HF and wearing a patterned blouse.

Boulton is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall and 197 pounds, with blond hair and brown eyes.

Anybody with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130 or 911.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older or who suffer from dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
