PHOENIX — A SAFE Alert was canceled Saturday for a missing 82-year-old man who was last seen in Glendale, authorities announced.
The alert for Robert Bauchman, who was last seen driving from his home near Thunderbird Road and 51st Avenue on Friday around 8 p.m., was canceled hours after it was issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Bauchman was found safely and reunited with his family, according to the Glendale Police Department.
According to DPS, Bauchman suffers from a medical condition that can cause him to become easily lost of confused.
SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older or who suffer from dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
They are different from the Turquoise Alerts, which started earlier this year for endangered missing persons younger than 65 who don’t meet the disability requirement of a SAFE Alert.
