A SAFE Alert issued Friday for a missing 17-year-old boy last seen in Phoenix was canceled by authorities after he was found safe.

PHOENIX — A SAFE Alert issued Friday for a missing 17-year-old boy last seen in Phoenix was canceled by authorities after he was found safe.

When the alert was issued, Tristan Whitworth has been last seen walking in the area of 28th Street and Sweetwater Avenue at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Whitworth was found safe and reunited with his family on Saturday afternoon, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said Whitworth has a medical condition that can make him appear lost or confused.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons 65 and older and missing persons of other ages who suffer from dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
