Authorities canceled a SAFE Alert on Thursday morning after a missing 63-year-old Phoenix man was located.

Mark Mendez was found safe and reunited with his family, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

When the alert was issued Wednesday night, Mendez had last been seen walking in the area of 81st Avenue and Pierson Street.

He is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental/cognitive disabilities.
