SAFE Alert canceled after 80-year-old Phoenix man is located

A SAFE Alert issued over two weeks ago for a missing Phoenix man was canceled Thursday, authorities said.

Eugene Glass, 80, is safe after authorities found him in a hospital.

When the alert was issued the night of July 1, Glass had last been seen that morning near First Avenue and Jackson Street.

Glass has a medical condition that can cause him to easily become lost or confused, and he uses a red walker.

He was described as 5 feet, 11 inches and 168 pounds, with brown eyes and a bald head.

SAFE Alerts have replaced Silver Alerts in Arizona as a way to spread the word about missing persons who are 65 and older and missing persons who have dementia or developmental or cognitive disabilities.
