Phoenix police officer, 2 others injured in overnight rollover collision

PHOENIX — A Phoenix police officer and two other adults were hospitalized following an overnight rollover collision, authorities said.

The collision, which involved a patrol Tahoe and two other vehicles, occurred near the Interstate 17 access road and Buckeye Road in south-central Phoenix around 12:45 a.m. Friday, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

“The Tahoe was westbound Buckeye Road when the other vehicle involved turned left, from eastbound on Buckeye Road, in front of the officer,” Sgt. Rob Scherer said in a media advisory.

The crash caused the patrol SUV to roll over.

The three injured individuals were taken to local hospitals in stable condition with injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening, police said.

The officer and one of the other people were still hospitalized as of Friday afternoon.

Police determined that impairment was not a factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
