Driver killed in apparent road rage shooting in Glendale

PHOENIX – A driver was killed in an apparent road rage shooting in Glendale on Monday morning, authorities said.

The incident occurred just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of 67th Avenue and Camelback Road, according to the Glendale Police Department.

What led up to road rage shooting in Glendale?

The drivers of a silver pickup truck hauling a trailer, 29-year-old Ramses Saldano Lopez, and a smaller tan pickup truck with a 23-year-old unnamed male driver apparently got into a dispute while stopped at the light on eastbound Camelback Road.

Lopez allegedly got out and confronted the other driver. The driver of the tan truck then pulled out a gun and fired once, striking Lopez, police said. The driver of the tan truck believed his life was in danger, police added.

Lopez sustained life-threatening injuries and died hours after the shooting.

The alleged shooter remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators, police said. He has not been arrested.

No other details were released. The investigation into the road rage shooting is ongoing.
