PHOENIX — A retired deputy from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was convicted of luring a minor in Arizona, authorities announced on Tuesday.
Jeffrey York, 68, was found guilty of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and two counts of Attempted Sexual Conduct with a Minor by a Yavapai County jury last Friday.
The Prescott resident could face up to 26 years and three months in the Arizona State Prison. His sentencing will be held on Feb. 28 by Michael McGill of the Yavapai County Superior Court.
How did authorities track down the retired LA deputy?
Local law enforcement teamed up with the FBI Task force on Human Trafficking to hold an undercover online sting operation on Sept. 30, 2023, targeting individuals trying to have sex with minors.
York contacted and tried to have sex with whom he believed was a 7-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl, when instead it was actually an undercover officer on social media York was talking to.
The 68-year-old man continued having conversations with the children on social media, as well as through texting and phone calls. During these conversations the former Los Angeles deputy detailed the sexual acts he was planning to perform on the minors.
York then traveled to an arranged meeting spot which is where he was later arrested.
“Adults who prey on children have no place in our community,” County Attorney Dennis McGrane said in a press release.
“The fact that Mr. York was a retired law enforcement officer is a stark betrayal of the oath he once took, and of the many fine officers who serve their communities with distinction and honor, and who ultimately brought Mr. York to justice. I hope the lengthy prison sentence Mr. York is facing will send a clear message to sexual predators that they are not welcome in Yavapai County. Let me be clear, if you try to abuse a child here, you will be caught and aggressively prosecuted by my Office.”

Eventually Jeffrey York will probably lose his balance, fall down and strike his head on a wooden mop stick repeatedly until dead.

Just another California wackadoddle transplant importing his entitled moral bankruptcy to Arizona.
As a retired LEO, Jeffrey York clearly knows better but selfishly felt otherwise.
Fortunately, society will soon be protected from failed human York as he transitions into a lifetime of invitation only Adult Day Care. Hopefully inmate York will have ample opportunity to reflect upon his questionable life choices as he enjoys his invitation only, all inclusive stay with ADC, including a semi private room with communal showering, color coordinated wardrobe, endless romantic opportunities, endless social enrichment with a interesting diverse population, a crash course in proctology, an endless all you can eat buffet of the finest instatutional fare all taking place inside a secured gated community offering 24/7 on-site security.
