Republicans close convention with blows to Obama campaign

PHOENIX – Clint Eastwood, Mitt Romney and Marco Rubio landed solid body blows to President Obama’s re-election hopes with the Republican National Convention speeches, a Valley political strategist said.

Conservative political strategist Stan Barnes with Copperstate Consulting said Republicans left Tampa with a lot of momentum
and the dynamic of the presidential race has been totally changed.

“This is an Obama campaign that now believes they’re on the wrong side of this and on the weak side at that,” he said. “They’re going to have a money disadvantage, which Obama’s campaign never expected. The Republican momentum is measurable.”

Barnes said the closing night of the convention delivered one punch after another to the Presidents re-election campaign.

“[Thursday] night was not about coming at the president in a subtle way,” he said. “It was direct shot on Obama.”

Barnes said Romney has momentum in three states that will be critical to his presidential hopes: Florida, Ohio and Virginia and this election year will feature a historically close race to the White House.
