PHOENIX — Grand Canyon University will add $550 million worth of construction projects to its Phoenix campus over the next four years, according to Phoenix Business Journal.

The projects will include three more residence halls, two parking garages, a second engineering building, a four-story student service center and a 3,000-seat soccer stadium.

Construction of two apartment-style dorms, a parking garage and “athletics improvements” will begin in 2017, a project that will cost $100 million, according to the article.

In 2018, the university will spend $100 million to build three more apartment-style dorms, a restaurant and expand library space before spending $85 million in 2020 for another apartment-style dorm and parking garage.

The private, Christian college already has $180 million worth of projects in the works.

The expansion is expected to increase employment rates at the university by approximately 300 employees in 2016. The university expects to hire up to 5,000 total employees in 2020, a leap from their current employment of 3,500.
