PHOENIX — Senator Jeff Flake is a Republican out of Arizona who has spoken out against President Donald Trump in the past.

Because of his opposition to Trump, who was elected as the Republican nominee, Flake is facing opponents from his own party. And of course, he is facing opponents from the opposite party too, the Democrats.

According to the New York Times, Flake has written a book to take on the GOP rift which will kickoff his next campaign “that amounts to an ideological manifesto for his own version of conservatism.”

The New York Times’ sources are three people who have been briefed on the manuscript.

“All three said it would likely inflame debate about the direction of the Republican Party,” the New York Times said.

They reported that he continues to distance himself from Trump and presents himself similarly to Barry Goldwater, a five-time United States Senator from Arizona who was also a Republican presidential nominee in 1964.

“Unlike Mr. Trump, Mr. Flake is a fiscal hawk and a supporter of free trade and comprehensive immigration reform,” the New York Times said.

There is no timetable for when the senator will release his book yet.

This should be an interesting election cycle. I am thinking that he will not be re-elected.

Flake keeps eroding away the little voter base that supports him. Maybe after he loses his Senate seat he and his son can open up a dog kennel.
