Rep. Biggs to tout GOP achievements during Trump rally in Mesa

PHOENIX — U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona said he will tout Republican accomplishments when he speaks Friday night during President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Mesa.

“I’m going to focus on the positives of this administration, what we’ve done,” Biggs told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona Morning News about 11 hours before the rally’s scheduled 6:30 p.m. start.

Specifically, Biggs said he’d highlight the low unemployment rate, tax reform and deregulation when he takes the stage at International Air Response at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

“Just the good things that are going on with this president and the administration and with what Republicans are doing and why we need to keep Republicans in office,” he said.

Based on a Friday morning tweet, Trump thinks Biggs has been doing good things, too.

Biggs, a longtime vocal supporter of the president, is running for re-election against Democrat Joan Greene in the heavily Republican Congressional District 5.

When Biggs first won the seat in 2016, he earned 64 percent of the vote.

Gov. Doug Ducey has also been confirmed as a speaker during the Mesa event, where Trump will boost Rep. Martha McSally in her U.S. Senate race against Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema.

Earlier in the day, Trump was scheduled to tour Luke Air Force Base in the West Valley with McSally and Rep. Debbie Lesko.

Lesko is facing a rematch against Dr. Hiral Tipirneni in the Nov. 6 election.

Lesko beat the Democrat in an April special election to replace Trent Franks, who resigned in December after allegedly discussing surrogacy with at least two staffers.
