Red Cross seeking blood drive reception, hospitality volunteers

The American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to help in reception or hospitality roles for two to six hours at blood drives in their community.

PHOENIX — The American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to help with blood drives in their community.

The volunteers would be helping with reception and hospitality for two to six hours during their shift.

No medical experience is required to volunteer, according to a press release, as training will be provided.

The reception volunteers handle greeting donors as they come in, taking their temperature and helping complete the check-in process. Hospitality volunteers, meanwhile, thank people after making the donation and provide refreshments.

In response to the coronavirus outbreak, the organization is ensuring volunteers that precautions have been implemented to ensure safety.

These precautions include providing masks, gloves and hand sanitizer, taking the temperature of staff and donors before entering a drive and spacing donor beds to follow social distancing practices.

Various dates and times are available to choose from to volunteer.

Those looking to donate blood can visit the American Red Cross website and type in their zip code to find the closest blood drive location.
