Motorcyclist dead after rear-end collision on West Valley roadway

A motorcyclist was killed in a rear-end collision in the West Valley on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

PHOENIX – A motorcyclist was killed in a rear-end collision in the West Valley on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The fatal crash occurred near 79th and Peoria avenues around 3:30 p.m., according to the Peoria Police Department.

A Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle was heading east on Peoria Avenue when it ran into the back of a Toyota Camry that had stopped in traffic, police said.

The motorcyclist, 22-year-old Cristofer Paz Gutirrez of Glendale, was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The Camry driver, who was not injured, remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities.

Peoria Avenue was closed between 79th and 80th avenues for several hours while the area was under investigation.

No other details about the rear-end collision in Peoria were made available.
