On Jan. 9, the fundraiser will hold a 24-hour flash sale for anyone looking to run the 4.2 miles.

This year’s race will be held on April 21, at 7:05 a.m — with Kids’ Run scheduled for 9:45 a.m. It begins on Arizona State University’s Tempe campus and winds through north Tempe and south Scottsdale before finishing at the 42-yard line inside Sun Devil Stadium.

The 14th annual Pat’s Run celebrates the life of Pat Tillman, a former ASU football standout who wore No. 42 and went on to play professionally for the Arizona Cardinals. He volunteered for the military after the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Tillman was killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan in 2004. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

Proceeds from Pat’s Run benefit the Pat Tillman Foundation, which provides scholarships for military veterans and their spouses.

The flash sale on Tuesday could be the best way at securing your spot, as the event sold out last year.
