Police have identified the employee arrested in connection to a Queen Creek animal cruelty incident after two dogs reportedly died inside a hot car on Friday.

PHOENIX — Police have identified the employee arrested in connection to a Queen Creek animal cruelty incident after two dogs reportedly died inside a hot car on Friday.
Abraham De La Rosa, 40, was booked into Maricopa County Jail on two counts of animal cruelty, according to the Queen Creek Police Department.
“This incident is upsetting and preventable,” Queen Creek Police Chief Randy Brice said in an update.
“Arizona pet owners should always take precautions to protect their animals, especially during extreme heat warnings. Even short periods in a vehicle can be fatal. We encourage everyone to recognize the risks and take the steps to ensure the well-being of their pets during the summer months.”
Details on employee arrest in Queen Creek animal cruelty incident
Officers responded to a report of animal cruelty at a shopping complex near Signal Butte and Queen roads and found two deceased dogs inside of De La Rosa’s vehicle.
De La Rosa left the dogs inside a parked car for at least six hours, according to police.
Temperatures around the Valley reached as high as 104 degrees on Friday.
The investigation is still active.
Tips from Arizona Humane Society to keep pets safe in the heat
The Arizona Humane Society listed tips for pet owners to keep in mind during the hotter months.
The organization tells Arizonans to limit their pet’s exercise and not to exercise them in the heat of the day.
It also advises providing ample shade and water and looking out for signs of heatstroke.
