PHOENIX — A 34-year-old man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he was shot by police Monday evening following a lengthy pursuit that began on Loop 101, Phoenix Police said.
Goodyear Police said the pursuit followed a call to a bank robbery at the Chase bank near Litchfield and McDowell roads.
Police pursued the gray SUV onto southbound Interstate 17 and then Interstate 10 around 5 p.m.
Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers attempted to stop the vehicle with a spike strip on I-17, disabling one tire but not stopping the vehicle, police said.

On I-10, a DPS trooper used his patrol car to disable the vehicle.
The suspect remained in his vehicle as police approached, and a Goodyear officer said he saw the man pointing what looked like a gun at him, according to police.
Three Goodyear offices fired shots at the suspect, and he was transported to the hospital.
Police said no officers were injured.
I-10 near 43rd Avenue was closed in both directions due to police activity and did not reopen until around 4 a.m., according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
