Prolific Arizona Home Depot thief sentenced to 6.5 years in prison

A man convicted of committing hundreds of thefts at Home Depot stores across Pima County has been sentenced to prison, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced Wednesday.

Francisco Fuentes was sentenced Aug. 14 to 6.5 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections, followed by seven years of probation. A judge also ordered Fuentes to pay $101,753.21 in restitution to Home Depot.

The sentencing comes after an investigation by the Oro Valley Police Department and Home Depot loss prevention officials exposed a retail scheme that resulted in more than $100,000 in losses.

Fuentes pleaded guilty July 23 to two counts of organized retail theft, one count of theft and one count of illegally conducting an enterprise.

“Organized retail theft raises prices for everyday shoppers and puts store employees at risk,” Mayes said in a statement. “My office will continue working with local law enforcement and retail partners across Arizona to identify these schemes and hold offenders accountable.”

Assistant Attorney General Matthew McCray prosecuted the case.
