Prescott Hotshots working toward containment of Tritle Fire

The Tritle Fire just south of Prescott covered nearly three acres as firefighters worked toward containment on Sunday afternoon.

PHOENIX — The Tritle Fire just south of Prescott covered nearly three acres as firefighters worked toward containment on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters established a line around the perimeter of the fire and plan to remain through the evening working the perimeter and extinguishing the interior of the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Prescott National Forest Engines, the Prescott Hotshots, helicopters and the Groom Creek Fire Department are all working to putting out the fire.

Arizona has a heightened risk for fire this season because of increased vegetation due to heavy rainfall this winter.

Officials have warned the public to drive safely around the area due to increased activity by firefighting personnel.
