PHOENIX – Two men were arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a pregnant teen in Phoenix last month, authorities announced Friday. One of the suspects is the unborn child’s father.

Jurrell Davis, 36, and Jechri James-Gillett, 18, were both booked into jail for murder, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Davis, who police said was the father of the pregnant teen’s unborn daughter, was also booked for sexual misconduct with a minor.

The suspects are accused of killing 16-year-old female Zariah Finley Dodd on July 5 at a park near 55th Avenue and Osborn Road in Maryvale.

Dodd was 22 weeks pregnant at the time.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting by firefighters. Her unborn daughter didn’t survive the shooting, either.

Another senseless Westside tragedy.

Two people saved from the misery of a 16-year-old trying to raise a child. Makes you sad that the government is trying to destroy all the contraceptives that are sitting in a warehouse that were supposed to be distributed by USAID. They'd be better used handing them out to American teens.
