Powerball ticket worth $100,000 sold at East Valley grocery store

PHOENIX — One person in the East Valley won a large payout in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing.

The winning ticket was sold at the Bashas’ grocery store on the northeast corner of Gilbert and Chandler Heights roads in Chandler, according to Arizona Lottery officials.

The ticket matched four of the five white balls — 6, 24, 39, 43 and 51 — plus the red Powerball of 2.

That made the ticket worth $50,000, but the player included the Power Play option, which doubled the payout to $100,000.

Arizona Lottery winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

Powerball is a nationwide game of chance with drawings on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights.

Tickets cost $2 and can be purchased at more than 3,000 locations statewide.

No one won the jackpot on Wednesday, which means Saturday’s drawing will be for an estimated $179 million ($80.8 million cash value).

The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in more than 292 million.
