SRP restores power after outages impact more than 7,600 Phoenix customers

PHOENIX – Thousands of Salt River Project customers in east Phoenix woke up without electricity on Tuesday, but their power was restored within hours.

SRP reported outages impacting more than 7,600 customers in and around the Arcadia neighborhood starting a little after 4 a.m.

As of 6 a.m., the SRP outage map showed eight events ranging from about 370 to 2,200 customers each in an area that extended to 40th Street on the west, 68th Street on the east, Camelback Road on the north and the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway on the south.

The utility company originally estimated that the problem would be fixed by 8 a.m., but all of the incidents were cleared from the outage map before 7 a.m.

An SRP spokesperson confirmed that the power had been restored to the impacted homes and businesses.

It’s not clear what caused the widespread outages.
