PHOENIX — Two people were stabbed Tuesday near a Phoenix-area high school, police said.
Phoenix police said both were stabbed during an altercation at Cesar Chavez Park, which is located east of Cesar Chavez High School, near 41st Avenue and Baseline Road, in Laveen.
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said the victims are 17 and 18 years old.
Once the victims were attacked, they ran to a library within the park and to neighboring Cesar Chavez High School.
Crump declined to say whether the victims were students at the school.
The Phoenix Fire Department said both were taken to the hospital. The 18-year-old received life-threatening injuries.
KTAR’s Martha Maurer and Lauren Grifo and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
