Police identify suspect in 2024 west Phoenix apartment homicide case triggered by dead body

Police identified a suspect in a 2024 west Phoenix homicide case that began following the discovery of a dead body in the area.

PHOENIX — Police announced the identification of a suspect more than a year after an investigation of a west Phoenix apartment complex homicide began following the discovery of a dead body in the area.

Officers patrolling the complex near Indian School Road and 55th Avenue were contacted by a witness on Nov. 12, 2024, just before 9:30 a.m. and found 38-year-old Mark Montano near the community dumpsters.

Authorities confirmed the man was dead and detectives later took over the investigation.

It was announced Tuesday that 44-year-old Raymond Drinkhouse was identified as the suspect of the fatal incident and he was booked into jail on one count of murder.

This remains an active investigation.
