PHOENIX – Police are searching for clues after the remains of a newborn child were found in Phoenix early Tuesday, authorities said.

“It’s difficult to process,” Phoenix Police Department spokesman Philip Krynsky said during a press conference.

Officers responded to a residential area near 35th Avenue and Camelback Road around 5:45 a.m. after a caller reported finding the remains, Krynsky said.

The remains were likely there since Monday, according to Krynsky.
