Police identify man who died in shooting at Phoenix hotel Saturday

PHOENIX — Phoenix Police identified the man who died in a shooting at a hotel Saturday.

Aaron M. Townsend, 40, entered a hotel room near Interstate 17 and Peoria Avenue and demanded money from two men, police said.

The men refused to give him money and while Townsend stood outside their door and pointed his gun at an “unknown person,” one of the men shot him.

Townsend was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.
