PHOENIX – Police have released the identity of the man found dead in what’s being called a “family fight” in Phoenix that turned fatal.

Police responded to a shooting emergency call at around 12:10 a.m. on Sunday morning near Black Canyon Freeway and West Thunderbird Road.

After officers arrived, they found 28-year-old Darius Rain suffering from a gunshot wound on his head. Rain was taken to a hospital and later died. The suspect was arrested.

When detectives were conducting interviews, the suspect told detectives he shot Rain out of self-defense.

No other information was made available.

The case is still an ongoing investigation.
