Driver seriously injured when pickup truck gets wedged under semi in Glendale

A pickup truck driver was seriously injured in an overnight collision with a semitruck in Glendale, authorities said.

PHOENIX – A pickup truck driver was seriously injured in an overnight collision with a semitruck in Glendale, authorities said.

Officers responded to the crash site near 71st Avenue and Camelback Road around 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Glendale Police Department.

They found a red pickup truck, with the driver inside, stuck under a tractor trailer.

Fire department responders extricated the driver, who had life-threatening injuries, and took him to a hospital.

Surveillance video showed the pickup traveling south on 71st Avenue and running a stop sign before the collision, police said.

Impairment is suspected as a factor.

Traffic was restricted in the area during while the scene was under investigation.
