PHOENIX – After receiving numerous tips from the public, the Scottsdale Police Department announced Friday it made an arrest in the violent death of a homeless woman.

Jadyn Curtis, 22, was arrested Thursday afternoon for first-degree murder, sex assault, kidnapping and armed robbery. He was booked at Maricopa County jail.

“Investigators worked around the clock and were able to link DNA evidence and the initial crime scene to Curtis, along with video surveillance in the area of the incident,” Sgt. Matt Pearson told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Friday.

On June 24 at around 3 a.m., 70-year-old Paulette Larwinski was attacked and sexually assaulted on the patio of an Old Town Scottsdale business in the area of Brown Avenue and First Street.

She was taken to a hospital in critical condition and died of her injuries June 30.

Earlier this week, Scottsdale police released details of the case and asked for the public’s assistance.

“We are very appreciative of how quickly the tips came in on this case and that they led to the successful conclusion of this case to take Mr. Curtis off of the streets due to his heinous crime,” Pearson said.
