Look out Arizonans; cold and flu season is coming to a city near you.
According to experts at WebMD, the 2015 to 2016 cold and flu season will peak in early January, reports the Huffington Post. In fact, Phoenix and Tucson are the No. 12 U.S. cities most likely to experience the highest rates of cold and flu symptoms early into the year.
The rankings are based on a combination of ge0-location information and data compiled from those that visit WebMD’s Symptom Checker. That’s 4 million visits per month.
“A WebMD spokeswoman said the models used to track symptoms can predict cold and flu trends up to six weeks in advance, with results highly predictive of data compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” stated the Huffington Post.
WebMD also put together an interactive map featuring real-time analysis of sicknesses across the U.S., in case you’re wondering what cities to avoid in your upcoming travels. At time of publication, cold and flu symptoms in Arizona were ranked as severe.
The No.1 ranked city combined Richmond and Norfolk in Virginia while Omaha took the 20 spot.
