PHOENIX — It was only a matter of time.

Temperatures in Phoenix are going to reach 90 degrees for the first time in 2020 this week, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS forecast a high of 93 degrees for Wednesday with light winds of 5-10 mph.

Wednesday evening is predicted to have a low of 65 degrees.

Temperatures are forecast to continue to rise throughout the remainder of the week with highs reaching 96 degrees on Thursday, 97 degrees on Friday and 98 degrees on Saturday.

Last year, Phoenix recorded its first day of 90 degree weather on April 8 at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport at 12:43 p.m.

The historic average for Phoenix’ first day of 90 degree weather is March 31, according to the NWS.

The earliest Phoenix residents have experienced 90 degree weather was recorded in the city on Feb. 17, 2016; the latest was May 12, 1912.
