Suspect arrested after northwest Phoenix shooting leaves 1 man dead

PHOENIX — A suspect was taken into custody after a northwest Phoenix shooting left a man dead on Tuesday night.

Correy Cooks Jr., 25, was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing 28-year-old Lawrence Robinson, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Police were called out to investigate a shooting at an apartment complex near 43rd Avenue and Bell Road at 10 p.m.

Police found Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to police.

Officers learned about a man involved in the shooting who was taken into police custody without incident.

Cooks was arrested after police spoke with witnesses and gathered on-scene evidence, according to authorities.

No further details were released.
