PHOENIX — Even though Amazon passed up Phoenix for its second headquarters last year, the Arizona city was ranked among the best in the nation for customers who use the e-commerce service.

A recent analysis from Shorr Packaging Corp. and Digital Third Coast found that Phoenix ranked third in the nation for using Amazon.

The only cities that ranked above Phoenix in the analysis were Los Angeles and San Francisco, respectively.

The Phoenix Business Journal found that the city ranked well in 11 elements of Amazon’s so-called “ever-growing sphere of influence” such as distribution square footage per capita and the number of Whole Foods locations, Amazon Lockers and Prime Now hubs.

Phoenix was home to five Whole Foods stores — which was owned by Amazon — 12 Kohl’s stores in the Phoenix area — which teamed up with Amazon to display its home products in the stores — and had 1.16 square feet per capita of distribution space for Amazon.

“In Phoenix, there’s enough Prime facilities to hold loot for every man, woman and Suns fan,” the analysis said.

In addition, the city was home to 244 Prime Now restaurants, which allows users to get products from nearby restaurants delivered to their homes.

But Los Angeles, which came in at No. 1, had more than 1,000 Prime restaurants, 20 lockers, 44 Kohls and 10 Whole Foods, in addition to having a 2-hour alcohol delivery.
