Police sergeant hospitalized after crash east of downtown Phoenix

PHOENIX — A Phoenix police sergeant was sent to the hospital after being injured in a crash Wednesday, authorities said.

The sergeant was injured in a crash near Jefferson Street and Interstate 10, east of downtown Phoenix, at about 3 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The sergeant was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The driver who crashed into the sergeant stayed at the scene of the crash.

No other details were released.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
