Phoenix police investigate fatal collision involving 66-year-old bicyclist

PHOENIX– Police are investigating a hit-and-run fatal collision that involved a bicyclist in Phoenix late on Saturday night.

Police responded to calls of a collision in the area of 32nd Street and Thomas Road around 11:15 p.m. where they found a man who had been hit on his bicycle, authorities said.

Jesus Quintanilla, 66, was riding westbound in the crosswalk when he was struck by an unknown white sedan.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and remains outstanding, according to authorities.

Quintanilla was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing and no other information was made available.
