The new facility at 100 W. Washington St. spans more than 500,000 square feet, making it the largest headquarters in the department’s history. The new HQ is just a half mile east from their old headquarters at 620 W. Washington St.
The new headquarters occupies a 27-story downtown tower formerly known as Wells Fargo Plaza that the city purchased for $46.5 million in 2021. Phoenix spent roughly $180 million renovating the building into a police hub, estimated at less than half the cost of new construction.
Several updates in the new Phoenix Police HQ
The building will house the department’s Investigations Unit, Dispatch, Employment Services and the Public Records and Services Unit, consolidating several operations under one roof and giving community members a single location to access police services.
Among the facility’s new centerpieces is a Real Time Intelligence Crime Center, a technology-driven hub designed to give officers and analysts real-time tools to support patrol operations, investigations and responses to critical incidents.
The building was also designed with employee wellness in mind. It includes dedicated wellness spaces, quiet rooms, access to therapy dogs and a fitness center funded with support from the Phoenix Police Foundation. Open-air spaces throughout the building offer employees areas to decompress.
Department officials said the new headquarters will strengthen recruiting and retention efforts by providing a modern workplace that reflects the department’s standards.
