Phoenix police arrest more than 40 Internet child predators

PHOENIX — Phoenix police have arrested 44 suspected Internet child predators as part of a nationwide effort to keep children safer online.

Phoenix police, along with the National Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, participated in “Operation Broken Heart III,” an extended effort to track down child predators during a two-month span.

The task force specifically focused on finding offenders who possess, manufacture, and distribute child pornography and who engage in online enticement of children for sexual purposes.

More than 3,000 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies combined to arrest as many suspected child sexual exploitation offenders as possible.

About 1,370 suspected predators were arrested nationwide.

During the months of April and May, investigators also educated over 6,000 individuals during numerous educational programs about Internet safety and child predators.
