Phoenix Police investigating shooting that killed 21-year-old woman

A homicide investigation is underway after a woman was fatally shot earlier this week in Phoenix, authorities said.

PHOENIX — Police are investigating the death of a woman who was shot early Wednesday in Phoenix.

Abriana Ma’Kehia Paxton, 21, died after being shot around 3:45 a.m. in the area of 50th Lane and Thomas Road, the Phoenix Police Department said.

While police were at the scene, Paxton and an unidentified male were dropped off at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.

Paxton was pronounced dead at the hospital. The man remains in the hospital with serious injuries.

According to police, an argument escalated between multiple people at a gathering in the area and culminated in the shooting of the victims.

An investigation is ongoing.
