Surveillance video shows roof collapse crush vehicles at Phoenix shopping center

Emergency crews responded to a partial roof collapse at a shopping center near Cave Creek and Greenway roads in Phoenix on Thursday morning.

Owners at Mariscos Bella Vista shared surveillance video of moment of collapse. It shows the roof smashing onto the blacktop in a cloud of dust and debris. The collapse took just seven seconds. The roof was over Axis Hookah Lounge and El Quiche restaurant.

The incident was reported just before noon near Cave Creek and Greenway roads.

Parts of that roof crushed several vehicles parked outside the building. Phoenix Fire officials said they have stabilized the scene.

Fire crews were also called out to assess the damage and determine next steps to safely secure the site. No injuries were reported.
