Phoenix PD: Woman shot, taken to hospital in Laveen

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is investigating the shooting of a woman in Laveen, according to authorities.

The incident took place around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday near 51st and Southern avenues.

Police say that the woman was taken to a local hospital, but with only non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, as no suspects have been identified.

It also remains unclear what led up to the shooting and if the victim was targeted or shot at random.
