2 Phoenix officers hospitalized after driver rams their patrol vehicle

PHOENIX – Two Phoenix officers were injured when a car they were pursuing allegedly rammed into their patrol vehicle on Wednesday, Feb. 25, authorities said.

The officers initially started pursuing the vehicle after seeing it speeding near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road around 3 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The officers caught up to the vehicle in a neighborhood near 85th Avenue and Pinchot Drive, north of Thomas Road, and tried to make a traffic stop.

But the driver made a U-turn in a nearby cul-de-sac and allegedly rammed the patrol vehicle, police said.

Other officers arrived on the scene and detained the woman who was driving and an adult passenger.

The officers in the patrol vehicle that got rammed were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that aren’t considered life-threatening.

Traffic was restricted in the area while the scene was under investigation.
