Phoenix officer hit by distracted driver, suffers minor injuries

PHOENIX — A Phoenix police officer controlling traffic was hit by a distracted driver Monday morning, a spokeswoman said.

The incident occurred near 16th Street and Southern Avenue.

Sgt. Maggie Cox said the officer suffered minor injuries.

She said the driver remained on scene and impairment was not a factor.

No other details were immediately available.
