Phoenix man who robbed 6 banks sentenced to 3.5 years in prison

PHOENIX — A Phoenix man who robbed six banks in a five-month stretch has been sentenced to 3.5 years behind bars, authorities said Wednesday.

Justin Eric Lindsay, 29, robbed the banks between August 2023 and January 2024, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

In two of those instances, he falsely told bank employees that he had a gun.

Lindsay was sentenced last week after he pleaded guilty to two counts of bank robbery on June 27. Lindsay will face three years of supervised released after his sentence ends.

The case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, which was revived in 2017 to reduce violent crimes and make neighborhoods safer.

The FBI, with assistance from the Tempe, Mesa, Peoria and Phoenix police departments, investigated the case.
