Phoenix man sentenced to 4 years for pretending to be a nurse

PHOENIX — A Phoenix man was sentenced to four years in prison last week for pretending to be a nurse.

Daniel Ray Stewart, 33, applied to work at a Valley hospital in October 2018 and claimed he was a registered nurse, according to an Arizona Attorney General’s Office press release.

He used a fake name similar to someone that was actually licensed.

Hospital staff became suspicious of Stewart during the orientation process, the release stated.

An investigation revealed he was convicted in 2010 for impersonating a doctor in North Carolina.

He was arrested in December 2018 and pleaded guilty to fraudulent schemes and artifices in September 2019 before being sentenced Thursday.
