Phoenix man killed in fatal bicycle-vehicle collision

PHOENIX — A Phoenix man has died after getting struck by a vehicle while riding his bike early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Phoenix Police was called to a collision around 5:30 a.m. near 21st and Northern avenues. There, they found 68-year-old Theron Williams lying on the ground next to his bicycle and another vehicle stopped in the roadway.

Williams was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities said the driver showed no signs of impairment.

An initial investigation determined Williams was initially riding eastbound on his bicycle on the south sidewalk of Northern Avenue before turning onto the roadway and getting struck by an eastbound vehicle driving in the curb lane.
