Phoenix man caught downloading child porn sentenced to 13 years

PHOENIX – A Phoenix man was sentenced to 13 years in prison after getting caught downloading sexual images of young girls, authorities said Friday.

Rudolph John Porter, 62, pleaded guilty in December to two felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to court records.

Authorities targeted Porter two years ago after Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office investigators identified a computer in the Phoenix area sharing files of graphic sexual images involving children.

They traced the activity to Porter’s Phoenix home, where they served a search warrant on May 8, 2018, according to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

Porter’s computer was found in the process of running file-sharing software and downloading a file that said it contained images of 14-year-old girls, prosecutors said.

The investigators searched the computer and found images of girls estimated to be as young as 10 in addition to search terms related to child pornography, prosecutors said.

As part of his plea deal, Porter will go on lifetime probation and be required to register as a sex offender after his release from prison.
